“Izmawen”, meaning ‘the lions’, comes from the Berber language, Tamazight, which covers a vast geographical area of North Africa. The powerful voices of the desert blend with the deep vibrations of the guembri and the bewitching rhythms of the qraqeb. A musical and cultural harmony in which trance plays a central role, traditionally extending beyond the borders of Morocco.
"Marsupilami" is a track that explores one of the many facets of R1D1's musical universe, at the crossroads between groovy house and garage. Built around a handmade synth, sharp drums and deep bass, the track reflects a marked beatmaking influence, almost hip-hop in its approach to sampling and construction.
