Alter Real
You and I and me and you
Xavier Laporte has been producing music under a variety of aliases for several years now, but in 2019 he signed with Nowadays Records under the name Alter Real. He then released two EPs, and his first and new album: « You and I and me and you« . He recorded, produced and mixed it on his own.
Alter Real is an obsessive and perfectionist composer who asserts an identity that is his own. Bringing together a wide range of influences under polished and efficient productions, he now presents us with a spontaneous album that creates some alchemy between his many sources of inspiration. It’s a predominantly pop album, but with some jazz, rnb and rap influences.
The result is a perfect blend of modern and analogical sounds. This retro-futuristic album marks a turning point for Alter Real. His voice takes center stage – even though he’s normally used to working with featurings. This album is also designed for live performances, with many organic elements (guitar, bass, drums). And some female backing vocals add a touch of sensuality to these tracks.
But Alter Real has not completely given up on featurings. Several guests appear on this album, with whom he has already collaborated in the past: Maxwell Farrington, Faro The Shadow and Heem Ze Loner.
As for the cover, it was designed by his friend, the photographer Matthieu Venot. A specialist in abstract geometric images that focuses his lens on architectural details. They already collaborated together on his last EP.
